Story Time Readers Explore Colors

On Monday, July 13th, Story Time Readers enjoyed White Rabbit's Color Book," by Alan Baker. Then, we created a Rainbow on a plate so we could watch what happened when the colors mixed together!

Here is how we made our rainbow:
1. Pour about 1 cup of milk into a shallow, white dish.
2. Drop 2 drops of red food coloring in the milk near the edge of the dish. Then place 2 drops of yellow about 1/3 of the way around, and then 2 drops of blue. (It will look like a triangle, with color at the points, inside the white circle of milk.)
3. Drop one drop of liquid dish detergent in the center of the milk. Very soon the magic begins!
Finally, we created necklaces from Fruit Loops to remind us of our colorful day!
