Saturday was the kickoff day for summer reading, where 26 children and teens registered to participate! There are lots of fun activities planned for readers of all ages, so don't miss out on all the fun, friends, books, and activities!
You may register for the program at any time, but remember that some prizes require that you complete the reading goals for all four weeks to be eligible. So plan to drop by the library and register soon!
This week at the library:
Story Time: Join Paula Keister for Itsy Bitsy Spider and other stories, crafts, & snacks!
Catch the Reading Bug Readers Club: Beth Dalton will read from Laura Ingalls Wilders, "On the Banks of Plum Creek" and share an activity.
Metamorphosis Readers: Come and discuss "Changing the Environment with recycling and repurposing," and create bead bracelets & book marks with Donna Jones

Any preschool or school aged person with a library card!
How much does it cost?
Just come in and register--All programs are FREE to ALL participants!
What events are scheduled?
Story Time, for pre- and beginning readers and a parent or caregiver
Mondays (June 23 & 30 and July 7 & 14) / 10 am to 10:45 am
Catch the Reading Bug Readers Club
For school-aged readers (going into grades 1-5 this fall)
Thursdays (June 26 & July 3, 10, & 17) / 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Metamorphosis Readers
For readers in Middle and High School this fall
Tuesdays (June 24 & July 1, 8, & 15) / 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Summer Reading Celebration
For Participants of All Ages and their Families
Saturday, July 19 at 10 am
What are the requirements to complete the program?
1. Readers are required to read or be read to 20 minutes per day, 6 days per week.
2.Participants are not required to attend weekly events …but they will be fun times so we do encourage participation!
3. You will need to keep track of your reading time, and report it to the library regularly.
How about some prizes?
There are REALLY COOL prizes! There are toys, books & games! We have certificates for doughnuts from Main Street Coffee, ice cream from The Chocolate Moose, and cookies from Tanglevine Crossing! We have Colts Football stuff from Old National Bank, and tickets for roller skating from Gibson’s Arena. For readers who complete ALL of their reading for ALL four weeks, we have tickets to ride at Indiana Beach or for a Fort Wayne Wizards baseball game!
